If you are a foodie just like me, but you are also looking to stay healthy, then I recommend you continue reading. What is a craving besides food that most of us have every day? What's something that we are constantly checking and can't put down? Just like the food we crave, our phone holds other cravings of ours that we must keep checking. Social media outlets such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook are examples of these cravings. Social media has grown tremendously over the past years.
One of the fastest, rising accounts found on Instagram are food accounts. Food accounts have recently gained attention and attraction due to their intriguing and welcoming images of delicious foods. These popular accounts on Instagram are considered to be “influencers.” The book “Social Media: How to Engage, Share, and Connect,” by Regina Luttrell, refers to influencers as, “individuals [that] are integral to the process of spreading ideas because their influence stems from a particular expertise, level of popularity, or reputation" (Luttrell, 149).
Social media outlets can be useful especially when looking for an inspiration to eat healthier. There are currently about, “95 million photos and videos are posted on Instagram every day” (Luttrell143). From delicious restaurants, home cooked meals and featured desserts, these Instagram accounts will prove to you that you do not always have to be miserable when you are on a diet.
#1. Clean Food Dirty City
Lily Kulin, founder of Clean Market, has gained recognition and respect on instagram through sharing her daily health tips and meals to the public. Kulin posts photos daily to record to her audience what her body takes in. Through her success on Instagram, Kulin has created a platform to develop a bright career. She has published a book titled, Good Clean Food, and she writes a daily health blog. Kulin has used media platforms, such as Instagram, to generate a following, where she can then advertise her book. Currently, “74 percent of marketers use visual assets in their social media marketing strategies” (Luttrell,138). Kulin’s images are visual assets, which can be used to attract more viewers. She reminds us that eating healthy is not a chore, but it is a rewarding lifestyle.

#2. Healthyish
“Healthyish,” is a media and news company that holds a large following on Instagram. The account currently has 474,000 followers. It features food bloggers from all over the world, and it also posts healthy recipes that users can easily make. If you are looking for an account that offers quick meals and introduces you to more healthy influencers, you must follow this account!

#3. Healthy With Nedi
Neda Varbanova is a nutrition influencer. Varbanova uses her social media as a way to attract users to her blog. On her Instagram account, she posts photos of food she creates. In the caption area of that photo, she places her website, so if people want to access the recipe, they must go to her website. This is a good use of her PR strategy because she is leading viewers to her website through her posts. Her website offers tips and healthy messages to send to her following in order to keep them motivated.

#4. Delicious Healthy Videos
This account has over 1.5 million followers. Talk about a following! “Delicious Healthy Videos” posts a about three short cooking videos a day. Each video posted explains what ingredients are need for the recipe, how much time each part takes to make and the calorie count. If you are ever in the mood not to read a food post, this is definitely the account for you. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

#5. Well and Good Eats
“Well and Good Eats” uses colorful and extravagant pictures to remind viewers the beauty and nature behind natural foods. This account has accumulated many loyal followers due to the amount of posts that use the account’s hashtag #wellandgoodeats. Right now on Instagram there are over 21,400 posts from other users that use that hashtag. Loyal users are promoting the account through the hashtag. Hashtags are a great way to draw attraction and create trends for a specific account. Maybe one day if you follow this account, you will find yourself using their hashtag.

Regardless what accounts you wish to follow, you now know that there are thousands of healthy inspirational accounts on Instagram. So, you might have an addiction to your phone, and you might have an addiction to food, so let's try to make it a healthy one!

Being in college and living in a dorm, it is hard to maintain a healthy diet. While I want to sustain a healthy diet, eating at dining halls and balancing a college budget leads me to poor eating decisions. When I am home, I can cook healthy dinners and meals in my kitchen.
